Tom Richards, Process Technology

Tom Richards was the founder of Process Technology and built the company on the idea of making better, safer heaters than what existed in the market. His numerous innovations include making thermal protectors a standard feature of the heater, a grounded Quartz heater, the invention of a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) heater, and UL certification for immersion heaters.

Richards was very dedicated to his industry and served for countless years as the national treasurer for the Metal Finishers Suppliers Association (MFSA). He also served as national treasurer with the American Electroplaters Society (AES) and as the president of the Cleveland chapter of MFSA. His hard work with members of the National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF) and AESF helped to begin the talks that eventually led to industry consolidation.

Richards passed away in March of 2021.

Previous years’ inductees can be found here.
