IFS Coatings (Gainesville, Texas) has launched IFS Puroplaz PE16, a tough thermoplastic modified polyolefin powder coating that is reported to deliver the unique combination of incredible hardness and excellent flexibility, along with high adhesion properties.

Puroplaz PE16 is said to deliver a Shore D Hardness of 60, high gravelometer performance, as well as outstanding impact and abrasion resistance.

“This PE16 formula has a rare combination of hardness and flexibility.  These attributes are normally codependent with a trade off in one for gains in the other,” says Tim Brinner, Vice President of Thermoplastics at IFS Coatings. “The brand new formulation overcomes this which makes it ideal for products that will be post formed after coating, such as fence wire weaving, that also require excellent abrasion resistance. It can be used to replace nylon coatings in certain applications.”

Puroplaz PE16 is suitable for a wide range of applications, including woven wire fence, fence poles, baskets, battery boxes, agricultural implements, automotive springs, water pipe and fittings, petroleum pipe (OD) and fittings, and foot traffic areas. In addition, the coating is said to provide the lower gloss that many of these applications demand.

Puroplaz PE16 is available in both spray and dip grade formulations and is formulated without the use of PVC, Phthalates or BPA.

IFS Puroplaz PE16 is part of the thermoplastic product range from IFS Coatings which includes Puroplaz PE15 for high slip and abrasion performance, PE 20 and PE 20 Texture known for their technical capabilities and aesthetics, Puroplaz PE21 with high abrasion, scratch and UV resistance, and Puroplaz PE40 for high chemical and corrosion resistance.
