I have gone through the web site of a company and found glycolic acid for metal finishing and cleaning, can you give us some more information about glycolic acid? Whether its useful or not? D.L.

The company, whose web site you visited, would probably have further specifics regarding the application. In general, I have found organic acids to be good metal cleaners, although they are more expensive than the mineral acids they often replace. The advantages of the organic acids are that they are easier to handle (not as corrosive) and do not attack the base metal as readily.
