Question:

I am quoting a job that has a call out for nylon powder. Could you tell me more about this type of powder and the usual applications it is used for? Also, where can it be purchased? R.B.

Answer:

Nylon powders are thermoplastic materials (soften with heat after initial application and flow). They are normally used as protective coatings on wear surfaces in abrasive environments and as chemical resistant coatings. They are usually applied over a liquid primer supplied by the coating formulator to obtain the best adhesion to the substrate. Although it is PFs policy not to mention company names, I suggest you go to PF Online to obtain suppliers’ contact information.
