How is Global Warming Bad? Let Us Count the Ways
Readers of Products Finishing’s print magazine know I’m skeptical of the entire notion of anthropogenic (man-made) global warming. Reinforcing my natural cynicism are enviro-extremists who attribute just about every negative thing that’s happening on the planet to their pet cause.
Think I’m kidding? Check out this page, which compiles links to more than 600 articles citing global warming as the cause of everything from the end of the American Dream to increasing insurance rates to weight loss in gray whales to less colorful fall foliage.
The page lives at Number Watch, a website run by British engineering professor and author John Brignell. Although the idea of the list may seem frivolous, it dovetails with Brignell’s stated purpose: to expose the “scares, scams, junk, panics and flummery cooked up by the media, politicians, bureaucrats and so-called scientists and others that try to confuse the public with wrong numbers.”
An admirable mission, in my book. If only more people were paying attention.
