A Welcome Pause
British prime minister Gordon Brown said in a speech a few weeks ago that “we have 50 days to save the planet.”
If he’s right, and recent news reports are true, we’re all toast.
Brown was referring to the need to come up with some kind of binding carbon emissions agreement at the upcoming United Nations climate meetings in Copenhagen. Proponents of anthropogenic global climate change have been angling toward this event, scheduled to begin December 7, as the best place to hammer out such an agreement.
But an accord would require the cooperation of the U.S., and President Barack Obama indicated last weekend that the idea of reaching a binding agreement in Copenhagen is not realistic.

New Show! Process Cleaning Expo 2010
PF’s sister publication Process Cleaning magazine will launch a new trade show and conference in May 2010. Process Cleaning Expo (PCx) is aimed at anyone who performs industrial parts cleaning processes—in other words, just about anyone who makes or finishes anything in the U.S.
Scheduled for Louisville May 4–6, PCx will feature exhibits from suppliers of cleaning hardware, chemistries and related technologies as well as a full conference program covering topics from cleaning basics to new technologies to environmental/safety compliance. A keynote address from University of Louisville head basketball coach Rick Pitino will take place on the show floor May 5.
