West Michigan - Tour of Covanta Energy

|

Covanta Energy is a waste-to-energy facility that processes 625 tons-per-day of municipal solid waste, generating up to 18 megawatts of electricity and up to 116,000 pounds of steam per hour for the Grand Rapids and five surrounding cities. The process operates two 312.5 ton-per-day waterwall furnaces, which can produce 865 psi steam (830 °F). This process serves the needs of the Greater Grand Rapids area in helping minimize landfilling waste and produces a benefit of electricity and steam.

Please join us for a tour of this fabulous operation on Monday, April 14, 2014. This tour will take place during the morning and will be followed by lunch at Brann’s Steakhouse.
