DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;  &quot\;The Basic Composition of Coatings&quot\; is des
 igned to introduce the newcomer\, as well as those involved in raw materia
 l manufacture\, sales and technical service\, to the technical aspects of 
 paint manufacture\, testing and use.   Topics of discussion will include t
 he history of paint\, materials used in manufacture\, simple formulating t
 echniques that you can put to immediate use\, introduction to the equipmen
 t used to make and test modern protective coatings\, modern chemical instr
 umentation as applied to coatings\, and simple cost accounting that allows
  beginners to start on a stable economic basis.  There will be over four (
 4) hours of demonstrations throughout the lecture period on topics such as
  paint milling\, color development\, testing and many others.     Particul
 ar attention will be given to the needs of newcomers to the coatings indus
 try in laboratories\, production units\, or marketing groups.  Course atte
 ndees in allied professions have found this course to provide an increased
  awareness of how their products fit into the area of coatings and have al
 so found new uses for their products.     Course notes are provided for al
 l participants.   Lectures and demonstrations are presented in an informal
  way to encourage questions and discussion.  You will be encouraged to tak
 e an active part in all phases of the program.  Time is allowed for privat
 e\, in-depth conversations to explore special problems.
