DESCRIPTION:January Meeting New\, Environmentally-Friendly Corrosion Inhibi
tionConducting polymers a class of environmentally friendly corrosion inhi
bitors. In this study\, a novel one-step one-batch process of synthesizin
g conducting polymer nanospheres\, using ozone as an oxidant\, is discusse
d along with composite conducting polymer corrosion inhibitors synthesize
via a environmentally friendly process. After providing a short introduct
ion into how the corrosion inhibitors are made\, details on the corrosion
inhibition study will be provided. Victoria J. Gelling Associate Professor
Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials North Dakota State Universi
ty Dr. Gelling is an Associate Professor in the Department of Coatings and
Polymeric Materials at North Dakota State University. She gained a B.S.
in Chemistry at the University of North Dakota then completed a doctorate
in Chemistry at North Dakota State University. Her principal research int
erests are the use of electrochemistry to monitor the health and degradati
on of polymeric materials and the transitioning of laboratory electrochemi
cal techniques to the field. During her time at NDSU\, she has studied va
rious coating systems from the traditional to the novel\, such as electroa
ctive conducting polymers. She has experience with numerous lightweight m
etal alloys from her research concentrating on aluminum and magnesium corr
osion inhibition\; focusing on environmentally compliant non-chromate coat
 ings.&nbsp\; When:	Tuesday\, January 8th\, 2013 Dinner at 5PM Presentati
