ASM International (Materials Park, Ohio) unveiled a new brand and logo to celebrate its 100th anniversary as an association. Founded in 1913, the company was originally known as the American Society for Metals. Today, the organization has more than 30,000 members in nearly 100 chapters worldwide. ASM informs, educates and connects the materials community to solve problems and stimulate innovation.
ASM Managing Director Thom Passek summarized the logo's symbolic importance, saying, "Our new logo illustrates ASM's continual progression, honoring our history while embracing our focus on being modern and perpetually relevant today and in the future."
The hexagonal shape of the new logo incorporates elements of previous logo iterations over the company's past. The arrows signify the connecting and establishing of relationships within the materials science community and disseminating information within the group and industry to advance innovation.
