Calvary Industries’ non-phosphate zirconium treatment Advantech P650 has been qualified at the highest performance level for use in Caterpillar’s liquid and powder coating operation, says Austin Morelock, Calvary’s Business Development Manager.

The Advantech product line does not leave phosphate sludge in tanks or risers, Morelock says, and uses a lower temperature in stage 1 to save on energy costs. It can often be dumped to drain because of low conductivity and green chemistry.

Caterpillar, which makes construction and mining equipment and is based in Peoria, Illinois, has also qualified Calvary’s S1488 hybrid zirconium sealer at the end of the pretreatment stage.

Tom Boland, Calvary’s Global Caterpillar Account Manager, says that typically a zinc-phosphate is used for the highest performance category of pretreatments, but Advantech gives Caterpillar a proven non-phosphate option.

“The Caterpillar engineering paint approval process is rigorous and thorough” Boland says. “That’s why we are proud Caterpillar has chosen our Advantech product line.”
