Chemetall Expands Aluminum Competence Center in Germany

Chemetall, a leading surface treatment supplier and global business unit of BASF’s coatings division, has expanded its Aluminum Competence Center in Hamm, Germany. According to the company, the new facility meets the quality requirements of the aluminum finishing industry, including GSB International and Qualicoat, and also strengthens Chemetall’s position as a global supplier in surface treatment.

“After acquiring the anodizing business of Chemal in 2015, this extension of the Competence Center and investment in ultra-modern technology further supports our global presence in this key industry,” says Martin Ings, global segment manager aluminum finishing. The Hamm site is fully dedicated to research and development projects and is expected to play a key role in the growth of Chemetall’s global aluminum finishing business.

“Aluminum continues to expand in applications and is the most widely used metal worldwide,” Ings says. “The industry faces an increasing amount of aluminum substrates, and we are positioned to serve the market needs with our Competence Center and strong technical service global network.”

Chemetall is a global provider of advanced pretreatment and anodizing technologies for the aluminum finishing industry. The expanded center serves the architectural and construction industries in addition to aerosol and beverage cans manufacturing, and fabricators in the aluminum finishing markets.
