Companies Form UV LED Curing Association

Phoseon Technology, Integration Technology Limited and Lumen Dynamics have established the UV LED Curing Association to bring a better understanding of UV LED technology and its benefits to current and potential researchers, suppliers, integrators, and end-users.

Phoseon Technology, Integration Technology Limited and Lumen Dynamics have established the UV LED Curing Association to bring a better understanding of UV LED technology and its benefits to current and potential researchers, suppliers, integrators, and end-users.

According to the founders, the association is focused on providing greater insight into the various UV LED solutions currently in the marketplace, as well as into developing applications that are well-suited to the technology. One of its goals is to demonstrate how system developers around the world can effectively integrate UV LED technology into applications and, where possible, achieve better efficiencies while saving costs.

The founders plan to help define and establish UV LED-based guidelines for UV LED curing applications. They hope the association also will serve as a forum for fostering communication within the industry in order to facilitate the exchange of information and enable the entire industry to better address market needs.

Can Electroplated Fe-C be an Environmentally Friendly Alternative to Hard Chromium and DLC Coatings?

Electroplated FeC is an efficient surface treatment based on non-aggressive chemicals with a deposition rate of ~20 μm/h at a process temperature of 50°C.  The FeC coating is carbide-free and temperature stable up to ~250°C with a hardness of 750 HV, which is comparable to frequently applied hardened steels.  The FeC coating has reasonable friction properties and have high affinity towards lubricants because of incorporated amorphous carbon.  Hence, for certain applications, the FeC coating might be an interesting wear-protective alternative to hard chromium and to PVD-deposited low-friction diamond-like carbon coatings (DLC’s), which are rather difficult and costly to deposit on larger items.
