Howard Finishing LLC (Roseville, Michigan) has retained Heritage Equity Partners (HEP), headquartered in Easton, Maryland, to seek strategic options that will enable the industrial coating and plating company to expand operations. HEP, formerly “Equity Partners,” provides investment banking services and has completed in excess of 400 engagements throughout the U.S. since 1988.

Jim Grimes, Sr., CEO of Howard Finishing, says, “Ownership has decided to pursue strategic options that will allow our company to be better capitalized and well positioned to continue serving customers and working with our vendors. We look forward to reviewing multiple opportunities and moving forward with the best solution for all parties.”

Howard Finishing operates in two facilities in Madison Heights and Roseville, Michigan, and has a staff of 350 employees working three shifts a day. The Madison Heights shop is a 150,000-square-foot facility that features an electrocoat painting line and two robotic metal finishing cells. The Roseville facility is 51,000 square feet and includes three automatic hoist plating lines, two fully automated zinc plating lines, nickel-chrome plating and chrome flash plating capabilities.

HEP Managing Director Matt LoCascio says, “This is an excellent opportunity to lend to, partner with, invest in or acquire an established coating shop with a strong history, experienced staff and substantial capacity to meet the needs of the growing automotive sector. With available capital, there is a significant opportunity to not only expand business with the company’s existing customers, but also utilize its excess capacity in any number of different industries while broadening the customer base.”
