Richard Wedding “Dick” Crain, active member in the metal finishing community, passed away on March 26 at the age of 83.

Richard Wedding “Dick” Crain, active member in the metal finishing community, passed away on March 26 at the age of 83. He graduated from Western Illinois University in 1956 with a degree in chemistry and taught high school science in Shannon, Illinois, before accepting a sales position at Industrial Filter and Pump Co.

Dick spent 30 successful years at the company, becoming vice president of sales. He later joined industrial pump supplier Serfilco as general manager and was appointed executive director of the Metal Finishing Supplier’s Association. He was the author and inventor of three patents in the pollution abatement field. He also owned and operated his own consulting company, Monitor Consultants LLC. In retirement, he served as an environmental consultant for Indian Head Park, Illinois, where he and his wife resided.

A committed member to the National Association for Surface Finishing and a leader in the finishing industry, he will be greatly missed.
