Chroma Corp. has signed an exclusive agreement to compound and supply biodegradable masterbatches based on Evive’s patented P-life additive. According to the McHenry, Ill., company, the additive is the only ASTM D-6954-certified biodegradable concentrate. The masterbatches enable processors to make standard polypropylene, polyethylene and PET biodegradable.

In terms of processing, the concentrate is said to work well in both conventional and high-speed thin-wall injection molding, sheet extrusion, blow molding and blown film. It was designed for use in food packaging, closures, blow molded bottles, disposable thin-wall containers, blown film and other applications.
