DuPont says its Vertrel specialty fluids have become the solvent of choice in the military for several cleaning operations, including cleaning of electronics and printed circuit boards, which must meet stringent cleaning requirements because the cost of failure can be very high.

DuPont says its Vertrel specialty fluids have become the solvent of choice in the military for several cleaning operations, including cleaning of electronics and printed circuit boards, which must meet stringent cleaning requirements because the cost of failure can be very high.

The nonflammable solvents have been used to flush and clean parts that are used in the manufacturing of rockets and missiles, and are also a key ingredient in several aerosols that are used in military applications, the company says.
