Reliant Finishing Systems is using a new method to package its powder coating systems that replaces some of the lumber used in its crates with recyclable scrap material. This “Green Aware Initiative” also reduces the crates’ overall weight, which can decrease shipping costs. In addition, end-users can sell the steel crating material back to recyclers rather than discard the wooden material as trash, the company says.

The company plans to expand use of this packaging method to its curing ovens and powder coating spray booths.
