Products Finishing's Powder Coating Clinic writer Rodger Talbert has been appointed to the position of Executive Director of The Powder Coating Institute, effective immediately.
Talbert will take on the additional duties of Director in addition to his Technical leadership of PCI. The Executive Director duties involve providing leadership, as well as identifying strategies and
developmental plans for the welfare of the organization. He will be responsible for overall strategic planning, revenue generation, financial management, organizational development, staff management, and program operations.
Talbert began his career in coatings in 1976 when he went to work for a small company that does metal fabrication and custom coating. He worked there for ten years, rising to the position of VP of Sales and Marketing.
He left there to work as a sales engineer for a larger company that designs and builds coating systems and worked there for seven years. In 1993, Talbert started his own business as a consultant. He ran his own corporation for 15 years before joining The Powder Coating Institute as technical director in 2009.
As the PCI technical director, Talbert has built a technical infrastructure that is providing a variety of services to manufacturers and custom coaters throughout the United States and in several other countries, including guidance for coaters new to the business and improvement for existing coating operations.
During his career in coatings technology, Talbert has taught "Powder Coating" and "Finishing System Design & Operation" at the Community College level, written and published numerous books and papers, and has penned the Powder Coating Clinic for Products Finishing magazine since 2008. He has been an important part of many functional committees, Boards and working groups for a number of institutions and associations.
Mr. Talbert received his education in Business Administration at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is a member of the Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI) and the Electrocoat Association. He is the former chairman of the Application & Recovery Committee for the Powder Coating Institute (PCI) and former president of the National Board of Directors for CCAI.
The PCI thanks Ken Kreeger who accepted the role of interim executive director during the decision making process. His contributions during this time are many and helped frame the association's budget for 2011 and maintained the organization during this time. Through his direction, PCI increased membership and maintained all programs. Kreeger will work with Talbert during the
transition and will stay on until after the annual meeting. After that time, he will remain on the PCI Directors for the remainder of 2011.
