We surveyed plating shops on their scrap and rework rates, and asked them to determine what it was as a percentage of overall sales. The Top Shops came in at a much higher rate of 4.0 percent, which may mean they scrutinize their finished parts more carefully.

 

We surveyed plating shops on their scrap and rework rates, and asked them to determine what it was as a percentage of overall sales. The Top Shops came in at a much higher rate of 4.0 percent, which may mean they scrutinize their finished parts more carefully.

The average shop reported 2.6 percent as a ratio of sales; the mean was 1.0 percent, and the rest of the shops averaged 0.2 percent.
