Sifco Applied Surface Concepts (ASC), a brand of Norman Hay plc, has gained the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Specification (OHSAS) 18001 accreditation. The standard is an internationally accepted method used to assess and audit occupational health and safety management systems.

Accreditation was awarded to the company’s Health and Safety Management System following an assessment by National Quality Assurance (NQA). The assessment process includes staff training and awareness, communication of safety management systems and response to emergency situations.

Previously, the company has also been recognized with the ISO 14001 environmental management standard and ISO 9001 quality management system. The addition of OHSAS 18001 demonstrates safer working conditions and improved performance across the company.

Mark Smith, European general manager, says that receiving the prestigious certification highlights the company’s efforts to provide its employees with high standards for working conditions. “The OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety recognition confirms that we are fully committed to the welfare of our employees,” he adds.
