Uyemura will highlight Antitarnish 616 Plus, an organic antitarnish process that uses nanotechnology to protect and preserve metal brightness and luster for silver, gold, copper and tin. Engineered nanopolymers adsorb on the surface and crosslink to form an invisible, tenacious layer a few nanometers thick.

The product’s aqueous, moisture-resistant chrome-free formula is said to be skin-friendly, hypoallergenic and dirt-repellent. In gold plating applications, it seals the gold’s porosity more effectively than alternatives, Uyemura says. It penetrates the grain structure, preventing oxidation of the underlying nickel or copper, so when gold is applied at the low end of the spectrum, parts pass corrosion tests.
