BLOW MOLDING: Another New All-Electric Machine To Debut at K 2013

Techne Graham Packaging Co. Italia Srl in Italy will show its latest all-electric extrusion blow molder at K 2013 in Dusseldorf.

As we reported in our K Show preview last month, all-electric machines will assume greater prominence than ever before at this year’s exhibition. Six of seven machine builders who revealed their show plans ahead of time said their major news would be electric machine introductions. The latest news in this vein comes from Techne Graham Packaging Co. Italia Srl in Bologna, Italy, which will show its latest electric extrusion blow molder, introduced a year ago and already a best-seller for the company. The model ADVT utilizes the same electric technology as the larger Advance ADV models. Aimed at small-to-medium production capacity, the ADVT comes with single or double shuttle and clamp force of 14 to 19 metric tons. Shuttle stroke is 750 mm.

It can produce containers from 60 ml to 20 liter capacity with one to three layers. It can mold 1L HDPE milk bottles, for example, at 4800/hr. Main applications have been in motor-oil, personal-care, and food containers.

At the K show, a double-shuttle ADV2 will mold 200-ml bottles for drinkable yogurt, neck to neck, in 40 cavities, for a capacity of 12,000 bottles/hr on the double shuttle. Energy efficiency is said to be 0.27kWh/kg of resin.
