Achieving precise and consistent results in passivation or cleaning processes requires that slurry or media concentrations in the liquid be maintained at specific levels. Density Analytics offers a digital electronic hydrometer that sits in the process tank and monitors the liquid’s media density/concentration.
The portable hydrometer provides a digital readout of the media concentration. It also produces a 4- to 20-mA analog output signal that can be interfaced with a PLC to control replenishment valves so that target density/concentration conditions can be maintained. Alternatively, dual, on-board, 5-amp relays can be used to automatically control the replenishment valves to maintain these targets, eliminating manual interaction that is costly, time-consuming and prone to error, the company says. The hydrometer can be remotely situated from the process tank with cable lengths as long as 500 ft.
