D-Zolve 1012 available from Solvent Kleene, is able to strip E-coatings at near room temperatures, eliminating the need for heating the solution to temperatures higher than 100°F. Designed for quick, safe stripping of electrocoatings from intricate part shapes, D-Zolve 1012 is non-flammable, non-hazardous and has no hazardous air pollutant potential. It is biodegradable and contains no ozone depleting components. According to the company, the product is compatible with both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and safely removes E-coatings from galvanized steel, aluminum, zinc, copper, brass, magnesium, carbon steel and stainless steel. Designed for use in an immersion tank, D-Zolve 1012 penetrates the topcoat and the primer, breaking the bond between the metal and the coating. Once the surface bond is broken, the topcoating dissolves and the primer falls off in pieces and drops to the bottom of the immersion tank. To extend the useful life of D-Zolve 1012, waste solids from the topcoating and primer can be filtered out and the solution reused many times before replenishment is necessary.
