Vertec BioSolvents Inc has introduced the new ELSOL-NMPR blend, an environmentally and employee-friendly replacement for N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP). It has been discovered that the biobased replacement has a similar physical properties to that of NMP used in the coatings market. Testing has been completed on ELSOL-NMPR versus NMP as a reduction solvent for paint and coatings by several major manufacturers. It was found that the product improved both flow characteristics as well as cleaning abilities with about 20% less solvent usage. According to the manufacturer, the product is an EPA approved SNAP solvent that contains no HAPS, and no environmentally hazardous chemicals. It is a completely safe, non-toxic and non carcinogenic alternative to petroleum based solvents.
