Spectro Analytical Instruments’ xSORT handheld energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer is designed for high-throughput elemental testing and spectro-chemical analysis of metals and other materials. It is suited for a variety of applications, including positive material identification and environmental screening; recycling of alloys, precious metals and aluminum; and mining and compliance screening.
To increase time and cost savings, the device features an integrated video camera for precise spot testing and visual memory storage. An integrated global positioning system also is available, which enables users to quickly return to previously checked locations without resurveying.
For metals and most alloys, the spectrometer is designed to deliver quick grade identification and material verification. Pre-installed grade libraries cover common alloys used in industry, and a high-resolution SDD detector provides faster signal throughput. For analyses of heavy metals, the spectrometer is said offer improved accuracy, with detection limits down to the parts-per-million range. An optional docking unit is available for stationary operation, adding stability for small samples along with extended analysis with ultra-low detection limits.
At 1.64 kg (3.62 lbs), the one-piece instrument is lightweight and compact, making it suited for use in the field, even in areas that are less accessible.
