One of the new introductions at the recent Fakuma exhibition in Germany was the launch of an all-electric multi-component series by Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery (U.S. office in Norcross, Ga.). The new IntElect multi line starts with a multi 350 model of 350 metric tons and will be followed next by a multi 220 (220 m.t.). Features include extended ejector travel, hydraulic core pull with a servo-driven pump, optional wide platens, and optional turntable with motor drive integrated into the new NC5-plus controller.

One of the new introductions at the recent Fakuma exhibition in Germany was the launch of an all-electric multi-component series by Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery (U.S. office in Norcross, Ga.). The new IntElect multi line starts with a multi 350 model of 350 metric tons and will be followed next by a multi 220 (220 m.t.). Features include extended ejector travel, hydraulic core pull with a servo-driven pump, optional wide platens, and optional turntable with motor drive integrated into the new NC5-plus controller. The activeDynamics injection control is said to regulate even complex injection profiles with reaction times faster than 100 microsec (0.1 millisec). Not only can injection pressure be ramped up in an instant, but the same is true of ramping down by actively reversing the spindle drive—not possible with hydraulic machines.

An IntElect multi 350 ran at the show producing a two-color PP flip-top closure in a 16-cavity mold with a built-in function to close the lids. Cycle time was 14 sec.
