Part of the Dubois Chemicals portfolio, Heatbath Corp. supplies manganese and zinc phosphate conversion coatings that are designed to minimize sludge formation. The company’s Ultraphos 1224 is a mid- to heavy-weight zinc phosphate coating that is said to produce less sludge and offer a high tolerance for iron in the solution. The product is designed with temperature toleration as low as 150°F and coating weights range from 1,000-2,500 mg/ft2, depending on the operating parameters chosen. The product is approved for GMW3179 Code G when used with Lab Oil 100WT, and all heavy zinc phosphate products meet MIL-DTL-16232 requirements for Type Z coatings.
