Alvin Products’ Hi-Temp Lab-metal is a single-component metal putty that can be applied directly from the can using a putty knife and provides adhesion to virtually any cast or machined metal surface. Once heat hardened, the metal filler can be machined, ground, drilled and sanded to a smooth finish which then can be powder coated and painted. The filler can withstand temperatures as high as 1,000°F.

Suitable for smoothing welds and filling cracks, dents or voids, the filler will not shrink, air dries within 24 hours and is weather-resistant, the company says. Typical applications include mold refinishing and repairing core boxes, wood and coal burning stoves, industrial ovens, exhaust systems, engines, radiators, and other parts used at high temperatures.
