Nanomyte SuperCN Plus from NEI Corp. is a functionally graded coating formulated to impart superhydrophobic properties to substrates such as plastics, metals, glass, painted surfaces and fabrics. These superhydrophobic properties force liquids to bead up and roll off, shedding water instantly and leaving the surface completely dry.
Unlike monolithic superhydrophobic coatings that consist of a relatively soft material that is easily abraded or rubbed away, SuperCN Plus features a hard and abrasion-resistant outer layer that transitions into a softer material closer to the substrate. Surfaces treated with the coating show water contact angles as high as 165 degrees. Its graded structure enables SuperCN Plus to maintain its superhydrophobicity and high contact angle even after moderate damage. Additionally, it offers good adhesion to the substrate, the company says.
