Eco-Tec’s Nickel Salt Recovery System is designed to recover more than 95% of the nickel from plating rinse waters. Using its Recoflo ion exchange technique, the system will recover a purified, sulfate/chloride balanced nickel concentrate at a pH suitable for recycle. Organic brighteners are rejected so the nickel recovered from the rinses following a bright nickel plating bath can be recycled safely to a semi-bright bath without fear of cross contamination. Users of the system have consistently reported S.T.E.P. (Simultaneous Thickness and Electrochemical Potential) test quality assurance values of greater than 120 mV when monitoring the semi-bright/bright corrosion barrier where the Eco-Tec system is in operation, the company says. This conforms well with automotive industry specifications thereby ensuring a system that will reduce costs without compromising plating quality
