The Pico xMod non-contact jet dispensing valve from Nordson’s Nordson EFD division is fully exchangeable and modular, making it possible to apply a range of fluids in hard-to-access areas or onto uneven or delicate substrates in electronics, automotive, life sciences, solar and other industrial dispensing applications.
The valve system uses robust, durable piezoelectric actuation technology for continuous operation at speeds as fast as 500 cycles/sec. and can produce deposits as small as 2 nanoliters with exceptional accuracy and superior process control, the company says. The system features five major fully interchangeable components designed to be easily assembled for each specific application and quickly disassembled for easy cleaning, repair or maintenance. According to Nordson, the piezoelectric actuator, valve seat, fluid body, cartridge ball/stem assembly and heater set each can be removed and exchanged in seconds, eliminating production downtime and increasing productivity.
Applications include UV-cure and other adhesives for bonding, hydrophobic fluids for protective treatments, chip-on-glass and TAB sealing, fluxes and conformal coatings, oil and grease dispensing in small-part automotive assemblies, and ink marking and color coding of parts.
