Oxford Instruments has introduced the PMI-Master Compact mobile spectrometer, a smaller, less expensive version of its PMI-Master Pro metal analyzer. It is designed to offer rapid material verification, positive materials identification and sorting of common alloys made of steel, aluminum, copper and nickel.
The device features a lightweight, easy-to-handle probe with integrated touch screen that quickly displays the alloy grade and full chemical composition. A 4-m flexible probe cable eases analysis of samples with irregular geometries and complex shapes. The spectrometer requires no warm-up phase, and the optical system is fully and automatically re-adjusted in the background during normal operation, without operator interaction.
The PMI-Master Compact’s robust design makes it suited for use in rough and harsh environments, and in virtually all segments of the metals industry, including metallurgical manufacturing, metal finishing, petrochemical and chemical, aviation, military, power plants and scrap sorting.
