DuPont Abcite by Thermoclad powder coatings have been specifically formulated as a tough, chip-resistant finish providing excellent corrosion and UV protection without the need for a primer. Available in 12 different colors and suitable for fluidized bed or electrostatic spray application, these powders are applied at a minimum of 6 mils, and are designed to provide a soft feel, absorb noise, and be field repairable. Abcite also has excellent resistance to chemical attack by both acids and alkalis, DuPont says, adding that the finish encapsulates the part making it highly resistant to permeation by liquids. Abcite is based on DuPont Surlyn resin, the same polymer used for the tough outer surface of golf balls. Ideal applications include outdoor furniture, light poles, sign posts, playground equipment, railings and stairways, fencing panels, bike racks, cable grids, battery trays, and perforated steel.
