The Peridium powder coatings line from Diamond Vogel uses Agion, a naturally occurring silver-based antimicrobial product that inhibits the growth and propagation of bacteria on the surface of a product.

Agion, created by Sciessent, provides continuous product protection by releasing silver ions to the surface at a steady rate, and is designed to last the useful life of the product, the company says.

The powder coatings include hybrid, polyester and epoxy technologies. They are made without water- or petroleum-based solvents, applied electrostatically and cured through a baking process, resulting in hard coatings that are resistant to abrasion.
