Carpenter Chemicals’ Toran 3 metal pretreatment passivates the metal to bond directly to it rather than through a “bridge.” The seal then cures along with the topcoat, improving intercoat adhesion and thereby also improving salt spray resistance, adhesion and impact resistance.

The single-stage coating uses no water, requires no rinse and is not heated. It generates no liquid or solid wastes, produces less CO2 than comparable conventional systems and protects against flash rust for weeks to months, the company says.
