PTC heaters use solid-state ceramic heating elements as their heat source. According to the company, they can “self-limit” their maximum temperature, regardless of operating conditions, and threats to heater life such as buildup/scale will not cause them to overheat. The maximum output temperature is below the ignition point of most plastic tanks, so overheat damage is prevented if the element is operated in air or becomes covered with buildup, Process Technology says.
