Designed for corrosion prevention on metal surfaces, Daubert Chemical’s Severe Atmospheric Corrosion Inhibitor (SACI) product line is designed to replace toxic (lead-based) corrosion inhibitors that can have environmental impact from water run-off.

 

Designed for corrosion prevention on metal surfaces, Daubert Chemical’s Severe Atmospheric Corrosion Inhibitor (SACI) product line is designed to replace toxic (lead-based) corrosion inhibitors that can have environmental impact from water run-off. The compounds are suitable for coating formulations as anti-settling and pigment-dispersing agents, and as rheological modifiers to stabilize viscosity and modify sag resistance. The line features oil and wax solids, solvent-based products and water-based products.
 
The solid products produce oily or waxy films and are high in viscosity at room temperature. The products are suitable for formulating coatings, adhesives and sealants with reduced VOC. They can be emulsified with appropriate emulsification agents or surfactants.
 
The solvent-based products form oily, tacky, waxy or firm (tack-free) films. The oily film products are pourable and can be made less viscous with diluent oil. Tacky products are made firmer through the incorporation of wax. The waxy film versions offer high water resistance, while firm, tack-free film varieties can be modified with pigments and additives to further improve corrosion and weather resistance.
 
The water-based products will form oily, tacky or firm films. Oily film versions are supplied as a stable anionic emulsion in water and can be combined with other waterborne or water-reducible materials such as plasticizers, resins and asphalts. Tacky versions are also supplied in water and can be applied as dip or spray coatings. Firm film products consist of a sulfonate in water with resins and additives.
 
The product line is suitable for corrosion prevention applications within the transportation, structural steel, aerospace and marine industries. Other applications include general industrial, oilfield and military uses, temporary and asphalt coatings, and paint additives.
