Schaffner EMC’s ECOsine 60 Hz Passive Harmonic Filters remove harmful harmonics to increase the reliability of supplied power and extend the service life of downstream components. These filters are easily installed and commissioned, and are designed for use with non-linear loads such as motor drives (nominally 5 HP to 250 HP), equipment with front-end 6-pulse rectifiers, fans, pumps, HVAC equipment, DC fast chargers and more. Passive harmonic filters can improve the productivity by eliminating harmonic-related downtime in varied industrial applications such as manufacturing, water/wastewater treatment, factory automation and mission-critical processes, says Schaffner.

Designed to operate at 98 percent efficiency and installed at the typical three phase voltage of 480 VAC (+/- 10 percent), at 60 Hz (+/- 1 Hz), these proven products reduce harmonics to 7–10 percent THDi, and comply with IEEE-519, table 10-3. As not all applications require a THDi of <5 percent, the FN3418 filter design is a more economical approach for the mitigation of harmonics. Panel mounted design is easily installed.
