Chemeon Surface Technology (formerly Metalast) offers its AlSeal sealant for aluminum alloys receiving anodic coatings to improve corrosion-resistant barrier layer properties. According to the company, conventional sealants like steam, sodium dichromate, cold and mid-temp nickel, and other heavy metal acetates have not been entirely successful. AlSeal processed anodic coatings do not show signs of corrosion or pit formation after 480 hours salt spray exposure on highly alkaline (pH 13), pre-dipped test coupons.
