The latest version of the automated software used to control Brookfield Engineering’s PFT powder flow tester includes a feature that enables the operator to combine, display and compare data from both standard and small shear cell tests in a single graph. This Comparison Feature on Powder Flow Pro v1.2 gives users the ability to test and compare how powders will respond in small bins with low consolidating stress and in large bins with high consolidating stress.

The powder flow tester is used to analyze powder flow behavior in industrial processing equipment. As more product is added to the hopper, consolidation stress increases, raising the potential for stable bridges or “arching” to occur. The software’s Normalized Flow Function enables the technician to predict this behavior and modify the manufacturing process or hopper design to avoid the problem.

The software is available free of charge to customers who have purchased a Brookfield powder flow tester.
