Antique Brown M38 liquid solution and gel from Birchwood Casey provide oil-rubbed bronze and leather brown finishes that complement natural surfaces such as wood, stone, tile and glass. The finishes are suitable for use on lighting, cabinet hardware, locks, window and door frames, sculptures, and other metal items.
The liquid form of the product can be applied as an immersion browning solution or with a brush. The immersion method is intended for large-volume, factory-scale work and can be set up based on the part volume. The brush-on application is suitable for larger surfaces or a small number of parts.
The gel is a thickened version of the product and is designed for application on large, flat surfaces or for components that are already installed such as wall panels, handrails or sculpture. The gel provides the same color formation and timing as the liquid, but stays in place where applied without forming runs and drips, the company says.
