New literature that details the precision deburring capabilities and overall features of a new model in the company’s line of spindle finishing machines is now available from ALMCO KleenTec Inc. The Model 2SF-48A deburrs individual parts at a speed of up to 480 pieces per hour with the use of double spindles that are lowered into a tub filled with finishing abrasive. The abrasive slurry is spun by centrifugal force into a “form-fitting grinding wheel,” according to the manufacturer, that assures uniform deburring of all part surfaces. The new literature points to the machine’s 48-inch-diameter tub that handles pieces up to l6 inches in diameter and is designed to deliver exceptionally close tolerance radiuses. An equipment operator can load and unload large or clusters of small parts on the spindle-mounted chucks, or robots can be employed to achieve 100% automation.
Spindle finishing is said to offer high precision of parts, as well as process repeatability The 2SF-48A, the manufacturer notes, is suited to deburring complex parts such as gears, bearing cages, splined shafts, pump rotors, and jet compressor discs and blades. The machine requires minimal floor space of approximately 5 feet by 8 feet.
