The compact Kine-Spin 601 from Kinefac’s Kine-Spin/Barrett Division combines washing and drying applications in a single machine. The system features part-handling equipment and a touch-screen control system that enables users to develop a variety of processes and store the programs for future use. It is suited for a variety of applications, including medical device and small-parts manufacturing, screw machining or similar production operations.
The washer/dryer has a maximum bulk load capacity of 130 lbs that can be used for the removal of residual cutting fluids and cleaning parts. A pneumatically actuated drum lid has been incorporated to simplify part loading and unloading, and to decrease operator repetitive motion. An integral jib crane and hoist system offer flexibility of machine location within a facility, and the equipment’s small footprint makes it suited for cellular operation. Metered fluid control also is available for more precise control of fluid usage to the wash cycle.
The cleaning system can generate centrifugal force of more than 300 times gravity to quickly remove any liquid-process lubricant from the parts to be cleaned. Then various wash, spray or swirl cycles with aqueous or other dissolving solutions are added to remove any other residual material. This produces improved airflow of the cleaning and rinse solutions through the parts and ensures virtually complete removal of all fluids from the parts during the dry cycle, the company says. Controlled heating can supplement the cleaning and drying action with temperature monitoring ranging to 250°F. Rust-preventative or other protective coatings then can be applied.
