High performance blue passivate for zinc nickel surfaces
Tridur® DB is Atotech’s newest member of the Tridur® family. It is a fluoridefree, two-component deep blue passivate for alkaline and acid zinc nickel surfaces. Suitable for rack and barrel applications, Tridur® DB produces an even, attractive deep blue finish even on complex-shaped parts.
Tridur® DB has a wide working window for blue appearance and an outstanding corrosion performance, which makes it a perfect alternative to standard thickfilm passivates. Up to 1,000 hours against white corrosion are achievable without even applying a sealer. When used with a sealer it provides even higher corrosion resistance results while giving a stainless steel appearance on acidic zinc nickel electroplated surfaces.
Another remarkable benefit of Tridur® DB is the extraordinary lifetime. Due to a high pH (4.0 – 4.5), the metal dissolution rate is reduced considerably during passivation. Optionally, a cobalt-free version of Tridur® DB with the same features in terms of corrosion protection and deep blue appearance is available.

Highest corrosion protection combined with excellent appearance
Corrosil® Plus 319L is Atotech’s latest addition to the well-known Corrosil® range of sealers. This versatile sealer can be applied to all zinc and zinc alloy surfaces. Specifically developed to meet the needs of the automotive industry, Corrosil® 319L provides a coefficient of friction of 0.15μ ±0.03 for barrel applications.
Corrosil® Plus 319L is an acrylic water-based sealer, combining the corrosion protection performance of an inorganic sealer with the polished appearance and wetting properties of an organic sealer.
This toxic solvent-free sealer is perfectly suitable for both, rack and barrel applications. Especially when used on rack, the deposited film provides a sleek, glossy appearance making it the ideal choice for black surfaces. Nonetheless, excellent results in terms of corrosion and appearance are also achieved when used on silver surfaces.
Corrosil® Plus 319L supplies superior resistance to white rust, even on complex-shaped parts.
The new sealer's make-up solution requires less chemical material, helping to reduce both internal costs and external environmental impact.

Fluoride-free passivate for acid and alkaline zinc plating processes
EcoTri® NF is Atotech’s new fluoride-free, iridescent thickfilm passivate for acid and alkaline zinc applications. Because EcoTri® NF operates at a low temperature (between 20-45 °C), the zinc dissolution rate is reduced considerably during passivation. This results in lower levels of metal discharge in the wastewater. Another benefit is that the make-up solution requires less chemistry. By helping to reduce both internal costs and external environmental impact, this product is representative of Atotech’s role in the industry’s future. EcoTri® NF also provides customers with a wide range of color options, combining protection with an attractive appearance.
EcoTri® NF is suitable for use with Atotech's Tricotect® regeneration system that allows for the continuous and selective removal of iron and zinc build-ups from passivate solutions, ensuring constant high plating quality and preventing hazing and discoloration of passivate films.

This paper will introduce an advanced alternative to Pb and Cd-free electroless nickel processes, which is completely free of toxic heavy metal (THM) stabilizers. The process and deposit characteristics will be discussed and compared to the traditionally Pb stabilized electroless nickel.
