Luster-On 490L deoxidizer was developed primarily for processing 2000-series aluminum but is said to be effective on other aluminum extrusion alloys as well.
Luster-On Products will introduce 490L, a deoxidizer which, coupled with the company’s aluminum cleaners, is designed to economically prepare and condition the surface of aluminum alloys to properly accept conversion coatings.
Aluminescent is a REACH, RoHS, WEEE and ELV compliant and MIL-DTL-5541F approved conversion coating for aluminum that will be on display in the Luster-On booth.
MIL-DTL 5541F QPL approved Luster-On Aluminescent is a powdered product used to form a chromate conversion coating on aluminum surfaces without the use of hexavalent chromium.
Luster-On will display Aluminescent, which it says is the only powdered hex-free conversion coating for aluminum listed on the Qualified Products List for MIL-DTL 5541F, class 1A and 3.
Chromate conversion coatings on aluminum were implemented initially in 1950 when Allied Research and Rheem Manufacturing used technology based on hexavalent chromium to provide protective chemical films on the metal substrate.
Environmentally Friendly Aluminescent, a Navy licensed trivalent chromate for aluminum, contains no hexavalent chrome but still meets or exceeds present Mil Spec 5541 requirements.
Tridescent is a hexavalent-free trivalent chromate that provides 125 hours salt spray protection.
Z-30/35W: An acid zinc plating system that provides full bright ductile deposit with low concentrations of organic addition agents.
CNX-55: An alkaline cyanide-free process, which produces bright, lustrous deposits over a wide current density range.
Luster-On 1515: A brightener system for conventional and low cyanide zinc plating solutions.
Luster-On will be highlighting its Aluminescent, a powdered product used to form a chromate conversion coating on aluminum surfaces without the use of hexavalent chromium.

Plating Chemicals and Equipment for the Metal Finishing Industry
Luster-On Products manufactures a complete line of surface preparations and finishing processes for the metal finishing industry. Our corporate name was originally our trade name for the original bright chromate conversion that added "luster" onto cadmium and zinc plated surfaces. Today, our products meet the requirements for durability, functionality and appearance that is demanded by industries such as automotive, defense, and electronics. Our new zinc processes, both acid and alkaline, are safer and non-polluting. Our new post- treatments enhance these by providing corrosion protection at an economical cost. We also offer a complete line of equipment for the plating industry, including Sterling Barrels. Many of these products are available at our E-Store.
