On April 9th & 10th, most of your Board of Directors was in Sacramento for our Annual Joint Legislative Action Day with MFANC & MFASD. This was another very successful event, not only for the legislative visits with our local Assembly Members and State Senators, but also for some of the other strategic meetings with agencies such as DTSC. We also had a very high level and positive meeting with the staff at the State Water Board about the new Industrial Storm Water Permit, which is due to come out next week.
The importance of these annual trips to Sacramento cannot be overstated; all of our members need to know the impact that we continue to have in the State Capitol…Thank you to all who attended! Last month, several members from California (both MFANC and MFASC) took time off from their busy schedules to attend the Annual National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF) Legislative Conference and Washington Forum in Washington, D.C. on April 24-26. Several of us met with the California Senators and Congressmen to discuss the small business climate, manufacturing, and issues confronting our industry. The contingent from California continues to be a strong one and this national event was one of the best. This month we also have a very informative dinner meeting on Planning Your Exit Strategy at Steven’s Steak House on May 16th .
The Workshop will be our Annual Storm Water Workshop where Bernie Moore will go through all Storm Water requirements and step-by-step instruction on filling out your Storm Water Annual report that is due July 1st . NASF SUR/FIN 2012 is next month in Las Vegas, NV!!!! This is the closest SUR/FIN to California in decades! Please consider coming to Las Vegas with us on June 11-14, 2012 at the South Point Hotel & Casino. The California affiliates and branches are co-sponsoring a SUR/FIN Golf Tournament and Bowling Night on Monday, June 11th ….
Don’t miss SUR/FIN this year! Detail @ www.nasf.org. Please sign up TODAY for our annual golf tournament on June 4th ! Before you know it, over 100 of us will be headed out to the Pacific Palms Resort in Industry Hills for our fun-filled Annual Foss/Stukkie/ Kaiser Memorial Golf Tournament. This year we are also making it a fundraiser for our joint MFASC/ MFANC Industry Environmental Fund (IEF) to make it possible to fight statewide battles that confront our industry.
Please support this golf event just for that reason. The registration information is enclosed with this newsletter.
