Question:

I am a technical salesman for a coatings supplier in the Chicago area. After reading your Q&A in the March edition of Products Finishing, I would like to comment on the question regarding Black Finish for Aluminum. My company manufactures cookware coatings as well as functional coatings for the industrial market. We supply black thermoset coatings that are completely durable against abrasion and corrosion from salt water conditions. There has been a great deal of competition in this area of the fluoropolymer coating industry, which has led to the availability of coatings of all colors and VOC specifications. K.P.

Answer:

The original question was about a coating for a black aluminum display bezel mounted on an offshore oil drilling rig. There are several manufacturers of specialty coatings able to supply the aforementioned materials. Thanks for your input K.P.
