The 2015 Awards of Excellence were announced during the 25th Annual Anodizing Conference in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Awards of Excellence acknowledge exemplary contributions by authors and presenters from the previous year's Anodizing Conference. The Aluminum Anodizing Council (AAC) recognized two authors for their outstanding contributions at the 2015 Anodizing Conference in San Diego, California.

Donald I. Johnson Award for Best Presentation

The best presentation award is named for Donald I. Johnson, retired from AaCron, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota, who was one of the founding fathers of the AAC. He served as AAC Chairman from 1987 to 1994.

 

Tank Optimization for the Job Shop

The Donald I. Johnson Award of Excellence for best presentation at the 2015 Anodizing Conference was awarded to Jeffrey Almeyda of Master Metal Finishers/Aerotech Processing Solutions in Paterson, New Jersey, for his presentation Tank Optimization for the Job Shop. Almeyda’s presentation discussed a pragmatic approach to maximizing the capabilities of new installations and existing process lines as well as variables that affect throughput, quality, cost and maintenance requirements.

 

 

 

Robert L. Kersman Award of Excellence for Best Paper

Applying Lean Manufacturing to Anodizing

The AAC presented the Robert L. Kersman Award of Excellence for best paper presented at the 2015 Anodizing Conference held in San Diego, California. The recipient of the award was Jared Bringhurst of Futura Industries in Clearfield, Utah, for his paper Applying Lean Manufacturing to Anodizing. Bringhurst’s paper addressed the application of a lean manufacturing and the use of lean tools to enhance the anodizing and extrusion processes.
